Spring in Kosice

Being back in Slovakia at first, in comparison to being in Vienna with all my companions, seemed to me like the wastelands. I was sick and tired of seeing grumpy people, sick of people staring at me and not smiling, sick of pale faces everywhere, depressed by the dilapidated surroundings and the depressing buildings, the junky (window) displays, the dust all over. Yes, I was just sick of it all. Was it ever going to be Spring in Košice? I was minorly depressed to be back and not even looking forward to going in school (Berlitz) and having to talk to everyone.

My Good Friday, a week later

Anyhow… I did, and by the next day, things were better and just fine again. I taught classes Wednesday- Friday; pretty light schedule. Spring has meanwhile hit Kosice.

Trees have amazingly turned green sprouting leaves. Daffodils and tulips 🌷 bloom in the main square and in private gardens. The market is filled with greens, flowers, even kiwi 🥝. Babushkas are selling garden flowers home grown, it’s very quaint. I must buy some. While I was gone, over one-two short weeks, spring has miraculously arrived. The lovers are still out too, by the way.

On to my Goals

My week was very light, with only one class on Friday. I’m not complaining, I’m leisure gal. On Saturday I had lessons, and Friday I was off completely. That was a good day for me! I totally started organizing my ideas and material, notes, writings, for article manuscripts. I’ve matched up a number of potential publications to sell my ideas to – and started on some texts already. I even went so far as to put one rough draft on disc!! That’s a good start!

At first, I didn’t know what I had to write about, but there is a lot. Ideas are flowing freely – and I have begun the process of matching them up with the publications. I feel very optimistic about this. What a dream job, even more so than the German thing, to get paid for travel writing!!!! This is my ultimate goal here and now. Besides boyfriend.
