The Blue Church in Bratislava is one of the most memorable churches I have visited in Europe. Among hundreds of European churches and cathedrals the quaint little blue church still stands out in my memory. When I first laid eyes upon the coolest church I had ever seen, we’d just returned to Café Mayer for some great coffee ☕️ and cakes 🍰.

My friend Michael and I had tried to order cappuccino’s at the museum café but were told it would be 20 minutes (while the machine warmed up). The desserts at Café Mayer in Bratislava were so good (and cheap!), we had to order several. This time I had a möhnstruedel (poppy seed strudel- my favorite) and a cheese strudel.

Then we got a chance to look around Bratislava a little and we walked over to the Little Blue Church. Very Gaudi – art nouveau looking. Cool inside and all over. At the time of visiting the blue church in Bratislava I had my bad quality photo skills and a little push button camera of the day (1999). I had to dig up my pictures to try and see if I had captured the uniqueness of it. Alas, I had not. Luckily today there is the internet, and I was able to locate some nice quality photos on the site I credit, thank you Canva.

Thanks to the internet, I see that Café Mayer still exists, some 24 years later. Here’s a link to the online gallery. It looks the same outside as it did in 1999!
