Vöcklabruck, Austria 🇦🇹 to Ljubljana, Slovenia 🇸🇮
So let me go back now and write about the Slovenia trip with Michael from Monday, 26 July 1999. I left the house at 8:45 and walked up to the little Bahnhof of Voclabruck to Salzburg, and I had to change trains three times.
On my second change in Villach, Austria, much to my surprise, dismay, chagrin, my Rucksak (backpack) was gone from the luggage wagon!!! It was actually Michaels’ rucksak with all of my things in it (except of course, my important documents and monies which were with me!)!
Trouble on my Slovenia Trip
There was only eight minutes for me to catch the connection to Jesnice and on to Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. I found out from one conductor that my bag was probably unloaded at Bad Hoffastein, but nobody could help me in time. I about in tears, and decided at just the last minute of time, to run quick and catch the connecting train without my luggage, as Michael was going to be waiting for me in Ljubljana.
The next conductor was sympathetic to me and told me what I needed to do when the train stopped in Jesnice. Luckily, it was a border town in Slovenia, and there was an OBB Ostereichishe Bundes Bahn Officer there, who could help me – and I had a half an hour stop. The man was very friendly and efficient (Herr Kreuzer) and he took down all the information… red – black – 80 centimeters height. He said they would try and track it down, the I could call later. I felt hopeful and caught my train to Ljubljana, Slovenia.
