Last leg Home. We flew Athens to Istanbul. Where we tried to get a Burger King triple cheeseburger 🍔 We refused as it came out to 1883 Turkish Lire, which was $43 about 40 Euro.
And then Istanbul – Seattle. By the time we got to Seattle we found another cheeseburger and fries for just $23. It seemed so so far to walk in the pursuit of that snack but I did so, while Mo waited at the Delta gate A 2.
Where we ate our cheeseburger. And waited for boarding time. It was real close to boarding time 19:15. And holding our boarding passes the flight number was not matching up with the delta flight number at the gate. I wonder if we’re at the right gate, I said. We were so exhausted I was not even thinking straight.
Heading back over to the gate directory board, I looked closer at the SAN flights. Shoot! We’re at the wrong gate I said. I went and told Mo. By now it was less than ten minutes to our boarding time, and the lady who I asked to verify we were on Alaska Air stated that Gate N was quite a hike away from where we were at Gate A. She did assure me that where we’d dropped our bags after immigration was the correct place to drop them.
So we loaded up our three carry ons and jogged across 3 terminals, scaled moving walkways, took an elevator, rode escalators up and down, and up again, and boarded an airport tram that finally deposited us at terminal N.
Bam. We boarded soon after that and slept as we waited for takeoff. It was a clear flight back to our home town. We felt so happy to be nearly home. Once we landed the city looked beautiful all lit up for Christmas and we waited again to pull up to the gate.
Not as cold as Seattle but colder than the Mediterranean, we were relieved and decompressed to be back safe home. Only we were waiting and waiting at the wrong baggage claim. lol.
After relocating over to the Alaska airlines claim sure enough there they were. Whew ! It all worked out.
Only one last thing, we flew home on the freeway all green lights from Grape Avenue on home! Amazing a first. But we didn’t have the door key and it wasn’t charged so we went back and forth between the two door openers until we were in and home 🏡
