Experience Needs Distance

Writer David Wade said (London Times, May 8, 1992), “Experience needs distance and what you write of at a distance tells not so much of what you were like as what you have discovered since.”

With plenty of distance, and an extra padding layer of time, I have decided to publish my life’s work of travel journals and (some) life journaling’s. I have always kept a journal. Always. It started when I was travelling as a kid, with my family. Dad had me write in a journal each day, where we were, how many miles we had travelled, and any highlights of the day. That habit continued throughout my life.

Every time I have journeyed, I have journaled about it. Here is an ode to the lifelong habit of journaling. If it brings inspiration, laughs, boredom or insights to others, that is my offering.
