Cruising the Ionian Sea 🌊
Today was a relaxing low key day at sea. No land in sight since the hillside lights of Messina twinkled, dimmed and finally disappeared as we sailed away last night. Through the night I woke a couple times to loud rolling sounds and blowing wind which turned rhythmical once I settled in to them, letting the ships rhythm put me back to sleep.
On awakening in the morning we stepped onto the veranda and were met with dark deep waters and large full gentle waves. After midday the captain announced that we were entering the Ionian Sea. A full day with water on all sides.
I ventured up to the explorers lounge and crows nest, right at the stern of the ship. There it really feels like you’re steering the ship right into the waves! With waves coming directly toward you and no way to tell one direction from another. I’d be completely lost! Good thing the ship was not in my hands.
We spent the day dozing, sipping espresso, and catching up on reading, writing, scrolling and photo deleting. I showered, did some wash and walked around.
At our usual 17:00 we got ready for dinner, dressed up and went down to the second deck, requesting table 105. As always the dinner was excellent. We were served by Joseph from Uganda 🇺🇬 again. Tonight a British couple sat next to us and we enjoyed their conversation.
