Travel books to inspire your travels
As a kid, I always loved books that take you on a journey such as the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe I loved those C.S. Lewis series; and Madeline Engel’s A Wrinkle in Time https://www.madeleinelengle.com/books/middle-grade-young-adult/a-wrinkle-in-time/
Naturally, as I started to explore the world more, I was attracting to similar stories about travel.
My all time favorite travel books are the Peter Mayle books. He explores food and French culture with a hilarious twist. A Year in Provence kicked it off…opening line, “The Year Started with Lunch” grabbed me and would not let me go.
And since much of my world travels were pre- Internet, I always kept a copy of Let’s Go nearby. Then I graduated to Lonely Planet. Usually I wanted to go off the beaten path, but at that time, most places were off the beaten path.
