San Diego Restaurants I Love

Since I’ve moved back to San Diego several years ago, in 2015, and met my husband we have gone out to eat a lot. These are some of our ultimate favorite San Diego restaurants. I’m sharing them here as diverse as they are, you’ll find something in each price range, and in various styles.

A few, I am especially sad to report such as The Westgate buffet have stopped during COVID- and were never to reappear. March 26, 2020 was the very last buffet at The Westgate Le Fountain Bleu

Otherwise, onward we go. They still offer a Sunday breakfast and lunch experience, as well as a beautiful Sunday Tea.

San Diego local secrets

I tell more about local favorite San Diego restaurants in this post too, including : Tom Hams Sunday Brunch, Westgate Hotel Le Fountain Bleu, as I mentioned above.

And more about Hans and Harry in Bonita lovely pastry shop with an excellent mouth watering selection. Also recently remodeled, although open in the same location since 1991. It’s a new local favorite for me, I had never been there until I moved back to San Diego and met my husband. He introduced me and my family to their wonderful Fresh Fruit Strudel.

French Gourmet – Now this is an oldie and a very goodie. Originally located on Pearl Street in La Jolla, where I worked in high school, it has grown to serve the entire San Diego County, via catering and multiple locations. Chef Michel Malecot

Gyu Kaku – Our all time favorite!! Japanese BBQ with quality cuts of lean meat with scrumptious marinades and amazing sides, which stand on their own. Here’s our go-to list of what to order, (pared down as we eat less now than we used to!)
