Odyssey 4 – Deadwood to Mount Rushmore

We stayed at Cedar Pass. This morning we went hiking on our own and then we drove to Wall Drug. It was real nice. We ate there. When we got home we went to the amphitheater and saw slides, then a girl did a skit about the Badlands for an evening squad.

August 6, 1975

We drove two hours then got to our camp. We drove up to Lead and got a tour of the gold-mine. Then we went to Deadwood and saw the graves of Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and a few others. Our water tank had broken. Todd and I met Julie.

We drove to Mount Rushmore and then went to Jewel Cave. It was nice, we had a tour. Then we took the Custer State Park Wild Animal Loop and Needle Highway home. On Custer W.A.L. we saw buffalo, antelope, deer, and feed burros. We ate at Pizza Hut.

Today we met a friend. He asked us, “Y’all want a TiKi?” He and Todd were pals. Julie our friend came barging in without asking us. We also went swimming and played pin-ball. Bill paid for us.
