Of course, I love exploring pastry shops, and especially in Paris, there are very special Patisseries to be found. This amazing Japanese Patisserie I happened to walk into one day, while exploring in Paris. I have never seen such bright and intense colors, and unique pastry flavors. O.M.G. AMAZING…It was back in 2021 when the macaron craze was just starting, and before I started finding them everywhere. It was such a fun treat!

Everything was so colorful and perfectly made and decorated. I loved all the small touches of gold leaf and decorative enhancements. Just like in Japan. The matching macarons with the flavors was so irresistible and it was really hard to make a decision on which ones to try. Can you imagine how good it smelled in there?!

Well, I decided to do some research and find out more about this fascinating Japanese Patisserie in Paris. Here’s what I found: I actually located the name of it, and the website, which tells a story about the Owner Pastry Chef who started this incredible Japanese Patisserie in Paris. I thought that perhaps the pastry chef had been trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, as I’d been there and seen many students from Japan. However no.

According to the website Chef Sadaharu Aoki Graduated from Machida cooking School and worked at patisserie Chandon, in Tokyo. Arriving in Paris in 1991, and started delivering his pastries to (some of my favorite!) fashion designers Kenzo, Yohji Yamamoto, Chanel, Ungaro and Christian Dior. Opening his first pastry boutique in 2001, he also had a section at Galeries Lafayette Gourmet. Now there is even a pastry boutique in Tokyo, at Isetan department store. (I spent a lot of shopping time at Isetan in Shanghai, love that store!)

The website for has a very nice quote from the Owner/Founding Pastry Chef:

“Delicious! “When I hear this from people with their mouths full of my pastries and a smile on their face, I would always say: “Good, but an do even better! “This is a motto of my everyday life.I like to create simple things, but it is the most difficult thing to do, since simple things cannot be manipulated.Living in France allows me to work with quality products borne by this rich region. Here, I am also challenged by people who have a real passion and taste for pastry.Thick fresh cream. A fresh flavour of macha green tea and its sensitive green colour. A crispness of pastries. A glaze of black chocolate. Creating something delicious. To achieve this goal, it is essential to maintain simplicity.ParisI appreciate this place for sharpening my inner sense and being a permanent source of inspiration.

Here’s the complete selection of offerings, cakes and macarons, pastry specialties on the website. And if you happen to be in Paris, there are several locations you can track down for this magnificent Japanese Patisserie.
