We were cruising to Mazatlan on my birthday! I took a Mazatlan Excursion and learned some things about Mazatlan. Here’s some of what I found out.
In the early days, Mazatlan vacationers consisted only of the rich and famous.
There are currently about 500,000 people living in Mazatlan including many German immigrants.
40 million pounds of shrimp 🦐 per year are caught here.
Deer 🦌 used to roam freely here
One of Mazatlan’s landmarks is its Neoclassical 19 century style architecture
😀Old Center of Mazatlan consists of
Casa de Colores renovated area
😃Basilica immaculate conception downtown old town
😃Pink Suarez market
Open air taxis to there are just two dollars per person
Plaza Machada with mariachi musicians
Malecon 13 miles of statues and fountains ⛲️ along boardwalk
🙃Golden Zone “Zona Dorada” is the tourist zone with giant letters for ig pic posing
Open air trolleys are located by the terminal building and transfer cruisers to the port entrance. It only takes a few minutes to get over to the port entrance area.
The Blue Linea
What I did is ask people where to find the Blue Linea and I followed that all the way into town. It’s literally a blue line painted on the sidewalk and in the street. So it’s pretty foolproof even if you’re bad with directions, like I am!
Once I found the Blue Line I explored all the cute little shops I encountered along the way.
Mazatlan Shops
There are so many cute little shops in Mazatlan. And naturally, I landed in this adorable bakery in Mazatlan, all decked out for the Christmas season. My birthday happens to be on Saint Nicolas Day!
To hire a Mazatlan taxi is $10-15 $ or less and they accept US dollars 💵 in small bills
Or opt for a double deck bus, you can hop on and off. There are four stops in 90 minutes, which include:
Cliff divers
Center
Aquarium
Golden zone
You could pay with your room key card before leaving the ship and it’s $55 for a day pass
4:30 all aboard time !
